Light of Day Partner Spotlight Bailey's Farms Kombucha
“The start of everything was love and the desire to connect people to what brings them alive!” - JC Bailey
In 2017, JC Bailey, accompanied by her son and daughter-in-law, participated in one of Angela’s Tea Workshops at Light of Day. The narrative leaps to October 2020, where JC experienced a profound vision during a meditation—an image of Angela’s yurt at Light of Day. Curious, she shared this vision with Angela, unaware of its significance. This seemingly casual exchange led to an invitation for tea and conversation. Simultaneously, amidst JC's efforts to connect with Angela, a family member grappled with career setbacks exacerbated by the pandemic. To support and encourage her nephew, JC regularly conversed with him. Through their ongoing conversations they unveiled a shared desire to make kombucha. Fueled by familial love and a shared pursuit of joy, within a few months, they were creating kombucha using Light of Day Organics teas and tisanes. Both Steve and JC Bailey embarked on the kombucha venture from different professional backgrounds—law enforcement and therapy specializing in traumatic brain injuries, respectively. After much discernment, they landed on their desire to work together to create a family business. For JC and Steve, success isn’t measured in sales figures. Success is about the joy of doing something good and making a positive impact on their community and the environment. Partnering with organizations like Arrowhead Incubator that works to “empower Native American industry, employment, and small businesses for the social and economic advancement of present and future tribal generations and communities. (ahin.org 2024)” they’ve embraced a mission of giving back and uplifting others. Their kombucha has become more than just a beverage; it’s a symbol of hope and renewal. Customers have shared countless stories of how Bailey’s Farms Kombucha has brightened their lives, from supporting sobriety journeys to fostering overall good health. Bailey’s kombucha has quickly gained in popularity, with 14 flavors on retail shelves and taps in over 100 locations, including colleges, grocery stores, and restaurants. Despite their broad reach, JC and Steve remain firmly rooted in their origins. They remain connected to their customers firsthand at local farmers markets. Notably, Bailey’s stands as the second Native American-owned kombucha company in the United States. Steve Bailey hails from the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians. Additionally, Bailey’s is the only kombucha company using only Certified Organic and Demeter Biodynamic tea and tisanes due to their collaboration with Light of Day Organics! For those yet to experience Bailey’s Kombucha, we invite you to enjoy this fusion of quality ingredients and love. Bailey’s Kombucha truly stands apart from the rest.
