OPTIONS FOR VISITING US:
1. Farm's Tea Shop & Tea Bar :
Please always see the very top of our website's home page where our physical tea shop's hours will always be posted in yellow. With rare exception, our physical on-farm tea shop and tea bar are open 12-5 Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays year round. Our website offers shopping 24/7 year round: please place your order here online & we will ship out via USPS Priority Mail. Thank you for your support of this Organic & Biodynamic Tea farm, small business & wildlife sanctuary the past 21 years. We appreciate YOU!
2. Local's pick up: Local's pick up shipping option is currently on pause due to extreme cold. Your tea would freeze outside in our shipping and receiving area. Freezing the tea affects the essential oils. Please come into our physical store at the farm to purchase on the weekends, or place your online order and have it shipped out via USPS Priority Mail. Sorry for the inconvenience.
3. Tea Workshops with Tour: Held within our Yurt Classroom during the growing season May-September each year, these legendary workshops are expansive tea tastings, tea education, history, varieties, origins and head-to-toe holistic health benefits of tea. We teach about our regenerative, sustainable farming practices which create nutrient-dense ingredients when grown in living soil such as ours is, soil teeming with life & vitality. Owner-guided walking tours are an incredible highlight of each workshop and cannot be purchased individually. Attending a class (group or private) is a prerequisite to a farm tour to best understand the land management and extremely labor-intensive process of creating our Organic and Biodynamic teas and tisanes. About the Farm itself... these two very active working farms and two licensed commercial production kitchens are where all the magic happens! This is where hundreds of ingredients for tea are grown each year from the heirloom seeds we collect on site, where our crops are harvested by hand, processed (dried, shaped, lovingly blended, and then packaged with great care). Light of Day Organic Farm here in Traverse City is the direct and exclusive source of our hand-crafted offerings.
M-72 divides our farms. Both parcels of land (12.29 acres/ 42.36 acres) and are facilities are audited annually by MDA, FDA, USDA, and Demeter Biodynamic. A full product audit is conducted, labels and website are reviewed for accuracy and Organic/Biodynamic compliance. Soils, fertility, water quality, botanicals are monitored and sent for testing. We live here, have raised our children and animals here; we care deeply about this place and all beings who inhabit this land. We are highly invested in maintaining this pristine land that we have the pleasure and honor to steward. The succession plan ensures that Light of Day Organic Teas will live on and on.
This has been the most meaningful work of our lives.
