4.18.23 Newsletter: 2023 Class Schedule, Re-opening of store and other news!

Big news from the tea farm!

Game on!  This past weekend we began picking tea leaves in our hoop houses ! Tea harvest is now in full swing! Click HERE see the new section on our website to shop for 100% Michigan-grown products.

*Farm update: Attached are some pictures to show you what we've been up to the past couple of weeks. You'll see the 400+  new tea seedlings that have been potted up and are being planted in our hoop houses, and also we are sharing evidence (for the sake of education) of the unfortunate loss of roughly 50 of our most mature seed-bearing tea plants from voles chewing on the tender bark and roots at their crowns over the winter. We've lost plants before during extremely cold winters, but never from rodent damage; this variety of devastating plant loss was a first for us in our 20 years of growing tea. New seedlings are being planted daily to replace the ones we lost, and the tea project goes on!

*SUPER BIG NEWS to share is that we're preparing to re-open the tea shop on Fridays and Saturdays beginning Memorial day weekend! Our son Leland is coming home from college in a few weeks, for his last summer home before graduating (with a 4.0!) from MSU's Honors Business College this December. He's been a Light of Day farm employee since he was 10, and now at age 22, he has volunteered to take charge and will be running the retail tea shop!  We hope that you'll come see Leland and the smiling faces of other longtime farm family members you'll know & recognize.  Our tea shop has been closed for over 3 years (since March 15, 2020), so we are beyond excited to welcome you all back to the farm!  As always,  you'll be able to purchase a prepared cup of any of our product offerings, including our legendary Matcha smoothies and award-winning Creamy Earl Grey. You can enjoy walk our lovely, peaceful grounds, participate in agricultural events, sign up and attend one of our Tea & Health classes in the Yurt classroom and a farm tour.  Again, we're very excited to see you all again!

* We are celebrating the completion of our second commercial kitchen at the tea farm which will house additional manufacturing equipment (including a tea bagging machine!) and provide a much larger space for packaging our products, preparing them for sale.

* We're in the process of building an adjacent outdoor bath house to use during events, such as classes, live music, yoga, parties, Biodynamic prep- making, sacred fires & other community centered gatherings.

* We're new renting out our Yurt, Gazebo and Courtyard for special events of all kinds. Need a place to have a graduation party? Anniversary party? Private ceremony? Please email Angela@lightofdayorganics.com to arrange your event today. More information on this can be found by clicking HERE.

Thank you, dear tea friends, for your business and for your loyalty. We appreciate you so very much.

See you soon!
Angela, and the Light of Day Organics farm family
