Tea History Lesson:
Wasted Tea...for independence!

We couldn’t very well send out a newsletter on Independence Day and not talk about the Boston Tea Party. This event was foundational in the establishment of our nation’s Independence from Britain, and speaks to the power and status of tea. On a fateful December morning in 1773, colonists gathered, resentful of the taxes placed on them by the Parliament in order to repay British war debts. They dumped over 340 chests of British East India Tea (92,000 pounds), reportedly making the Boston Harbor smell like Tea for several weeks afterward!

The powerful message sent by this action helped to lay the groundwork for the Revolutionary War which happened about two years later and resulted in the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Norther Michigan Summer in a tea

No matter when I drink this tea, it brings me back to summertime in Northern Michigan. I love that it has anti-inflammatory properties from the cherry and mint. This is a staple in my tea rotation.

This is my favorite tea, and I love that it's all grown organically in Michigan! The cherry and mint flavors are perfectly blended, and I can drink it later in the evening without feeling like I'm getting a big caffeine kick.
