Get Your Vitamin C The Natural Way

In America, 92% of the population don’t get enough vitamins. This means that they are missing the essential nutrients needed for their body to function as well as it should. Vitamin C is particularly important for our bodies and our immune systems. Fortunately, drinking tea can help you get your daily recommended amount of Vitamin C the natural way.

Why do we need Vitamin C?

One of the main functions of Vitamin C is to help keep the body's cells healthy; this lowers the chance of you getting ill. It helps with wound healing and lowers the risk of infection. Vitamin C is also necessary for maintaining healthy bones, blood vessels, cartilage and skin, and a severe deficiency can even lead to scurvy. Rather than resorting to supplements, which can sometimes be dangerous, a better alternative is to make sure that you have enough Vitamin C in your diet. Drinking tea can help with this.

What tea should I drink?

Green tea contains Vitamin C - whereas the ordinary black tea that you buy in grocery stores does not. A single cup can give you up to 10% of your daily recommended amount. It will also help you to feel refreshed and hydrated. Genmaicha, also known as brown rice tea, in particular is high in Vitamin C. This Japanese green tea is suitable for children, the elderly and even pregnant women. It can also help top up our levels of Vitamin A, which is a good antioxidant. Matcha tea is another good source of Vitamin C. It is also a natural source of caffeine, so will leave you feeling revived and energized.

What about fruit teas?

Many fruit teas are an exceptionally good source of Vitamin C. Take the Hummingbird Nectar tea - it contains blueberries, grapes, currants, cherries, elderberries and cherries. This combination of fruits is extremely high in Vitamin C, not to mention extremely tasty and thirst quenching. Peaceful Peninsulas tea is another good choice: it is made from ingredients grown local to the Michigan area, including apple, cherry, blueberries, rose hips, apple, grape and hibiscus. Rose hips in particular contain 426 mg of Vitamin C per 100g. They give the tea a uniquely sweet taste that will be loved by children as well as adults.

Boosting your Vitamin C levels can be done naturally through diet. Drinking delicious green teas and fruit teas are a great way of getting all the nutrients you need.
