3.19.2010- The farm is waking up..birds chirping, fox showing signs of activity (9 active dens noted in the field at the time of this writing), and daffodil and tulips about to bloom. Biodynamic horns ready for retrieval now… any time after today’s Spring Equinox. Our farming study group is reading Grasp the Nettel in preparation for making more of our own Biodynamic preparations this year, including BD #500. Last Fall, on a gorgeous sunny afternoon, our group gathered, filled the horns with fresh cow manure, then buried approximately 50 horns here at Light of Day Farm in the Fall which is our first collective batch of the BD #500. There are pictures posted on Light of Day Organic’s Facebook page which document this magical day.- Angela
6/25/2010- Just harvested over 100# of “wet” Spearmint and roughly 130# of “wet” Peppermint- an enormous amount- recent heavy rains and heat have stimulated rapid growth. You can find these freshly dried herbs in these blends: Cherry Mint, Cacao Mint, Leelanau Licorice, Will’s Remedy, Be Still, Mother’s Blend, and many others…enjoy!
